Good puzzle with a rather surprising "result".

I was quite a fan of the theme in my teens but now, in grumpy old age and with a couple of exceptions, find it all a bit tedious.

I have a full grid but four clues where I'm not sure what the missing word is, so my 'foreign' phrase incomplete. 31, 33a, and 22, 23d....
Although I'm not sure the whole thing isn't a wind up! Seventy plus letters reducing to 5,5?!

31 object is extra
33a elgar extra
22 engineer extra
23d wanda extra

all becomes clear when you start typing the phrase into google translate ....!

Thanks Bunty, I had Elgar, it’s 33a I need.
I’m not getting it, I have first four words of phrase as German then it all goes wrong.

I've got MAYBE for 33a. Take the first letters in the clue for the answer.

Everything completed but I cannot access Google Translate, so frustratingly cannot reach the end game for the 5,5 answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Bigf, I didn't do the Google Translate bit - I just put the first four words, after a mention of the theme itself, into ordinary Google... and the information came up.

Why can't you access Google Translate, Bigf? All you need is internet access which you obviously have. Just type translate in the search bar and it will come up.
