?P?A?E. Has to be OPIATE. I get the OPI but how does the rest parse?

Ate = had. And it's seen as one man's view of religion (Opiate of the masses, a famous quote).

Glad I could help, myla. I've since checked - it's a Karl Marx quote, 'Religion is the opium of the masses'. In his view, therefore, religion is an 'opiate'.

PS I know it doesn't really matter but I felt bad about the slight misquote earlier!
