I must agree wholeheartedly with whoever described this as a waste of newsprint.

I struggled to complete 6 yesterday, though this has now risen to 20 thanks to answers from her and from "another place".

I don't mind a challenge but there should be some hope of actually achieving it or it becomes pointless..

Quite agree. An absolute stinker. Dad who likes to parse the answer to a clue (quite understandable), and has been doing The Times for over 70 years, threw the paper into the naughty corner last night.

A combination of the odd good clue, a lot of weak ones and some too clever-clever by half.
