Hi Roof, no, the composer does not end with a 'U'. Look at Zozozo's post no. 9.

There is no 19d. - which did you mean?

Brendan, could you check your explanation for 23a? I think you've accidentally put it the wrong way around.

Ahhhh!! Sorry Roof, Mattrom is correct, I gave you the explanation the wrong way round.

It should be - Definition = 'Our beginning or start' and is got from a word meaning 'what may happen to you 'at your end', minus a one letter abbr. for 'M(oney).

Thanks Zozozo and others

I've cracked the left hand bottom corner apart from 22d and made progress on the right hand bottom corner. Just 27 and 29ac and 25d to do.

The reason I couldn't get the composer at 18d for so long was that I'd put Aging in for 17ac even though I know you don't spell it like that!

My excuse is a very busy day emptying the contents of the garage into a temporary shed prior to the demolition of said concrete prefab garage on Monday. More to do tomorrow.

I started and finished this morning, but I had the same problem as roof did with 17a
American in front of gallery getting on (5) ?S?N?
The wordplay and crossers make the solution clear, but I can't see the definition!

Maybe if something is switched ON it's being used.
Seems like a poor clue to me.
