Hi cocobunny, it might help to know the 5 down unclueds relate to 1a with the 4 across unclueds relating to 44a. If you need more please post again.

I'm finding this really hard too! Done about a third. Does unclued 6d really have a J in it....not many words fit there!
A clue for 21d would get me going.
