Parsing for a couple would be appreciated. (I have the answers) 5d: "Composer's uppity nipper ditching contralto and embracing soprano". 6d: "Girl embraced by two Italians".

5, is Rossini.
The nipper is "incisor"
Remove "c" for contralto.
Add "s" for soprano.
Reverse it for "Rossini".

Thanks rusty. Of course. For some reason I was trying to ditch"a" for alto.
6d I think must be Anita but I can't think why. Perhaps someone else has an idea.
