Traveller returning by train? (4)

Although not in Chambers as a synonym of "liar", "traveller" appears as such in my Roget's (as does "angler" - see @ 17). "traveller's tale" does appear in Chambers - "an amazing account, esp. an untrue one, about what one professes to have seen abroad."

(Mark Twain, who used the quote about there being "three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics" attributed it to Disraeli . There are, however, several other figures who have been cited as the originator).
