Oak, it's given as an acceptable plural in my dictionary - one of three plural forms!

and, Oak, the clue says "red indians", so the plural is needed, isn't it? (though it's true that shoe or shoes could both mean footwear)

ps - what was the "other" brand name in the crossword?

...and of course, a similar sin in 8 dn. Not quite Araucaria's most precise, I thought. Also, if we're being critical,, I was surprised to find a word repeated in both the clue and the solution in 2dn

Also surprised by 2D AJT - liked 1D though and enjoy the product thinly spread on toast

Why spoil it with "thinly" Ixion?

Would appreciate some hints for 22d & 25ac.

Think I've got 22d but don't understand 'enough?'

If I'm right with 22d then 25ac starts with 'S' - have 2 possibilities but again don't get the wordplay.
Thanks in advance.

AJT, 8d is not only my dictionary, it's a household name (at least for Brits). I agree 2d is not a typical Araucaria clue.

TWM, as AJT says 8d - a sandwich spread which tends to polarise opinion!
