Stuck with parsing the following:

19a House staff do twirls (5) TUDOR fits, I can see rod (backwards) but what about the UT?

51a Bow's straight with recording for a dance (3-4), Looks like ONE-STEP but why?

46d Clothing on show (7). Why should this be LEGWEAR?

Any help appreciated.

Hi Graham,

19a is ROD, as you say, + UT, which is another name for the the first note of a scale - in this case DO, (re. mi fa, so. la........)

46d Yes, LEGWEAR

"ON" in cricket is the "LEG" side + WEAR (Show)

51a Yes, ONE STEP

"Bow" (Bow in East London indicates you should drop your aitch) so, "Straight" = (h)ONEST + EP (Recording)

Actually, in 51a, I can't think of any are in the UK that would pronounce the "h" in 'Honest', which either means the "Bow" reference is redundant or I've got the parsing wrong.
