I'd appreciate guidance on the do's and don'ts for this site. For Everyman prize crossword s it seems giving answers is normal, whereas if answers are given for Guardian prize puzzles people are reminded not to! I'm genuinely asking as a new user and don't want to cause any problems

Hello there, FredFather. There are no hard and fast rules and the site administrators would say that answers can be given. There are lots of regular solvers on here, so a few conventions have developed over the years. The Guardian prize puzzle usually just gets hints, nudges - but I've given the odd answer (when I've forgotten).

Thanks Malone, personally I'd prefer hints, but often I'm so stick, only the answers will do!

Fredfather, if you're ever stuck on a clue and want only a hint, you can say so - either in the title of your post or in your query. People do this quite often.
If I don't want to see any answers on a puzzle I'm struggling with, I simply don't open the thread.
