Looking for a couple of parses so far, please:
Spike2 @35 and BBM2 @39. In both cases I can see the definition but am struggling with the rest of the clue.

spike2 @ 35; Cupid's arrow = dart, missing its sting dar(t) + ling (heather)
BBM2 @ 39, as you've no doubt gathered the surface (topically) infers cricket (W.G. Grace) with the cryptic definition of one of the great Australian rivers (Murray).

As good as they are, mattrom @ 19 & malcolmxword @ 34, I think "containers" and acrostics are easily spotted by experienced solvers due to the very limited number of indicators. Also just missing out is fiery's catch and release @ 27.
In 2nd skyewalker @ 21 (an &lit subtractive, impressive !)
Winning, for me, BBM2 @ 39. Topical, misleading and for finding a way to incorporate the necessary initial capital G in grace.
