Betrothed unknown leaves capital.

Possibly "fi(n)ance".
Should "number" be in clue?

Rusty, I answered this (for someone else) yesterday. There was no 'number' in the clue, but Chambers gives 'indefinite number, esp in a series' for N, so I think the 'unknown' is OK - just!
