Re your recent Clueless prize: My wife and I went on a garden tour on Monday, and the Japanese one was included. The owner provided shuttle buses because the house is at the end of a steep, winding dirt road that could send you toppling into Penobscot Bay if you weren't familiar with it. Anyway, spectacular site, although the Japanese landscaping does seem out of place, and the owner was most gracious. The loveliest place was the house built by Marshall Field, of the Chicago department store, which was the model for Selfridge's.
