Hi roof
I really didn't like this one.
12,1 I have bunged in from definition - investigation of some concern. I haven't bothered to parse it.
9 is just wrong - the answer is singular but the wordplay implies a plural

I might add that 9 has other problems too, as far as I can see!

12d 1ac
The answer is an anagram and think of 007 in a manufacturing business maybe? Not a brilliant clue but think about what 007 does.

9AC the word "going " in a lavatorial sense. Hope this helps but its difficult without giving too much away.

9a is a euphemism for needing to go to the toilet

Hi chrise - hope you're well. It's not often that I disagree with you but, for 9a, the 'or' makes it singular (one or the other but not both). What other problems do you have with it?

I quite enjoyed this Paul - the first one in ages.

Hi simond9x
Aren't the noises from domesticated animals?

I wouldn't say that matters. Chambers describes it as "...including plants, animals...etc" so I think domesticated/wild would both be included.
