Congratulations, paul, and thanks, tyke. Newport's just down the road from here- beautiful town (not just mega-palaces but also lovely eighteenth-century neighborhoods). Thanks also to ginge, mattrom, and paul for the mentions.
Re Duke Ellington: He had been just about forgotten till he re-emerged at the Newport Jazz Festival (I think it was in 1956). Around that time he did a magnificent noirish score for "Anatomy of a Murder", well worth watching- both caustic and witty, with Jimmy Stewart and the sexpot Lee Remick (from my very own county).

Congrats, Paul, and thanks for the mention. Thanks to kt and spike for the votes, and to tyke for the competition.

Yet another learning opportunity: interesting to discover that pell has a meaning in common with pelt.

Aah, Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity. A few years ago, he brought a band - including family members - to the nearby music venue here. Given how many of the old musos are no longer with us, it's amazing who's still alive!

Thanks Tyke for setting and the casting vote against some great competition.
Thanks for the musical education - I had never heard of Julie Driscoll and am only vaguely familiar with Bob Dylan’s work! Had I been around to appreciate them, on the strength of your videos, I may have become a fan!
Thanks for the votes and mentions everybody - very much appreciated.
See you all next week.

Rossim - Thanks for your nice comments - trust your garden is looking pristine? - I`m away now for a couple of weeks, so will miss the comps.

Aristo - I`d loved to have been at Newport in the 60s - it was my favourite time for music and it does look a beautiful place!

Mattrom - Don`t get too giddy about Australia in the Cricket - England are just doing a good job of looking ordinary ... so far!

Chrise & Stevea - I think we are fortunate to have `grown up` ( not sure I have yet! ) at a time when so much musical talent was emerging!
