Having completed the grid and got the theme, etc., I remain slightly confused by the preamble, which may be read to indicate another item to be highlighted. I have seven highlighted words. Has anyone else done this crossword? And maybe could comment? Thank you.

Hello KT17, sorry to be slow to reply. It's The Crossword Centre's June puzzle. I can't add a link but it's readily Googled. It's a tough but satisfying puzzle!
