I’ve got just one more and I’m stumped!

I thought this a strange crossword and can’t parse lots of it.

Hi flossie, I don't do this puzzle so I may be tilting at windmills. Are you sure of both crossers ? as vo(i)le would parse.

There is a cotton material called "aida", but whether it is thin or not, I have no idea.
Nor can I see the parse!

Of course it’s vole and yes, I got two of the down clues utterly wrong.
I thought a snowdrop was a flower but in fact it was an avalanche! Which was why I had an ‘a’ and not a ‘v’ and the ‘d’ came from another incorrect word of mine.
It all makes sense now!
So I can turn off the light!
I’m still learning that you must trust the clue.
