Having problems with parsing this:

22a Pole with old hat in distant settlement (7)

Looks like outpost, but why?

Thanks in anticipation.

Which letters are confirmed? It looks like OUT for "old hat" and S for pole, but I'm not seeing the POT

Outpost.
Old hat is "out",
A pole can be a "post".

32a One of Mitford's aristos accepting suggestion for psalm - ANTIPHON (Psalm)

I presume "suggestion" = TIP but I can't find any of the Mitford sisters that match the rest - unless it's An Hon(ourable), but then why not just "aristos"?

Hi brendan, Jessica Mitford's autobiography "Hons and Rebels" would make one of her aristos = an hon.
