After the clue for the word, in brackets there’s sometimes a small clue, proceeded by number of letters. Most of the time it’s “inf” but I’ve seen “arch” too.

For example: office assistant (inf) (5)

The word for that clue was gofer.

So what does (inf) mean and are there other abbreviations? Since I have no idea what it means it just confuses me.

Inf - informal
Arch - archaic, old-fashioned, not in current use.

Informal, would be my guess?

Most probably , in this context, informal and archaic
