Hi.
My first visit, so I mainly want to browse recent discussions to get a sense of how things work.

* The first few discussion I looked at did not seem to identify source of the puzzle that was being discussed. Is that typical?
* Does the thread starter expect readers to have access to the puzzle being discussed? That is, can a specific puzzle be uploaded so that others can refer to it?
* Can I search for puzzles by author?
* From the first few discussions I looked at, it seems the comments are arranged in reverse chronological sequence. Is it possible to get them in oldest-to-newest sequence?

I primarily work the two daily puzzles from my local newspaper. I don't expect that they are composed by the paper's staff. I imagine they are probably obtained from a major newspaper's offerings.

Thanks in advance for any comments. Phil.

Welcome, phil.
To address your points - if posters follow the "posting Hints, they should include the name of the puzzle in the heading, and put the clue in the post. Some puzzles are freely available online - the Guardian, for example, here:
https://www.theguardian.com/crosswords
but many aren't.
You can change the order of the posts by clicking on "edit" (which appears after your log-in name, below the title of the site).
