Hi. Please help with the following:
3 d - Folly to have run into deserted Cape. (5 10).
I don't have any letters - but think that the first word may be 'empty'. Thanks so much!!
I read it slightly different to Malone, in that I assumed "into" was just a placement indicator and that "to have run" is being used in the same way as 'to have run' (a business) = 'headed' (a business).
Brendan, your parsing for that is much better - thanks!
Quocunque, sorry my parsing wasn't spot on - I often don't bother (and the recent Everyman puzzles don't inspire me to spend any more time than is necessary!)
I had parsed 3d as : emptyheadedness = folly (def)
empty- deserted
headed - to have run
ness - cape
which would seem to tally with what Brendan has said…….
That seems ok to me?
