Some great straight anagrams, 2 of which have lovely definitions; the obscure, I had to look in Chambers, tyke51's Tory and penda's cutpurse with my overall favourite in this category being nemo @ 7 (definitely on the shortlist) just ahead of dorrien @ 4 and stevea @ 8.
Some corking cryptic definitions (I imagine even more satisfying on solving had the answer not been known beforehand) including paul @ 2, mattrom @ 13, fiery's Charlie's angel @ 19 (I had to consult him and acknowledge his superior knowledge in this sphere and as smooth as it is sorry mate this being specialised I felt it wouldn't be fair to those of us as unworldliwise, so didn't consider it further) and tyke 51 @ 20 (smooth).

My joint runners-up are peterm @ 10 and aristo @ 11. There's a certain inevitability to the result with the ever consistent mattrom @ 6 yet again getting the rosette with;

Opportunist wildlife poacher whose victim swallows its tail

And they're not supposed to possess intelligence !
