Decided on a fresh posting with my query, as the previous posting was becoming a bit congested! I'm just wondering about 9 Across, the clue for which is:- "Don't speak badly as an accomplice" (5) I have S-I-L - Is this SPIEL? Only I can't link up the accomplice part.

“Don’t speak” leads to SH and “badly” leads to ILL. A SHILL is a mainly US term for an accomplice.
