32ac: "Plenty to do? One involved no longer washing". It would seem to be LOTION, but I have ROT?ON.
That would mean that 30d is wrong: "Dancer not dancing after removal of CD", which I took to be Arne.
Obviously not seeing something.

30d not dancing = calmed ...remove the cd > ALME ..a dancer

giving you the L you need for lotion for lot i on

I'm glad I never attempt this one, if that's what the clues are like!

Out of curiosity, could you explain why "no longer washing" defines LOTION, please?

Thank you Sudokulover. What a brilliant red herring CALMED is. But I can't find Alne as a dancer, although there appears to be a big folk festival which includes dancing at Alne.
Chrise, Chambers has the most obscure obsolete words. It's an absolute delight. It will be my desert island book, and possibly go in my coffin!

alto - look in Chambers under the headword ALMA.
