Thanks, Rusty. Your comments lead to me looking up the Chas and Dave song, to find out more. According to Chas, the word is a more polite way of saying 'Get out of it you little *******'. That's the meaning I had in mind. (There was also an old-fashioned swear word in the song. Chas and Dave were told to omit that when they appeared on 'Top Of The Pops' - they needed multiple takes as they kept forgetting!)

Isn't it good how crossword clues or answers can lead to uncovering things?!

That's what I supposed it meant.
Think the setter was a bit generous with the meaning!
Yes, it is good to take off at a tangent because of something in a crossword puzzle that intrigued you.
