57 Across - "They make better notes - doesn't respond to them"
(8) -E-E---S
51 Down:- "Patches of red and green, last three to turn up"
(5) N-E--
(could the latter one be NAEVI?)

51 Naevi

Naive (Green) with last 3 reversed

57 Remedies - they make better

Re Me (notes) + Dies (doesn't respond)
