Two girl's names together give a gender-unspecific name

I'm not sure what you're showing as 5th letter, but it's wrong!

17a I know the adjective relating to honey so was able to solve.
I also know the Spice girl but there was no definition in the clue.
Am I missing something?

Mel is a very pure form of honey, so I took this as the definition. I thought the ‘say’ served a double purpose - Bee sounds like B, and Mel B rather than, say Mel C.

I got that much but think it was a rather weak clue.
Nothing pointed to there being a Spice girl.

I have just 25d left. Hot water off the south coast, after temperature rises by 4 degrees? ?T?L?N. Could the T be wrong since I have some doubts about "short clue" in 27ac?

No, your letters are correct. My favourite clue today! Definition is "hot"

I have hot as the definition and can see the water off the south coast plus t for temperature.
Where does the N come from?
