rossim

I chose wood for its many definitions (and a homophone).
In my innocence I did not know the slang clued by the Bad Boys.
If I had I might not have chosen it!

Can anyone explain the parsing for Peterm's clue...

Elijah, maybe, seen in crash helmet and cloak (4)

I get the definition Elijah (Wood) maybe, but not the rest.

Thanks everyone for the votes and mentions!
Cheers Rossim - wow! How on earth did you find that clip? Mesmerising!
Peter - I did give you a mention!
Steve - surprised you didn’t like my 15!
KT17 - hope to see you next week but please don’t forget to vote?

See you all next week.

Ever the lady, rossim. Some of us are just incorrigible. My eldest daughter once commented that men are unable to progress beyond the mental age of sixteen, and I suppose she was being rather generous.
I too mentioned your clue, peterm! It had me flummoxed for a bit.

Aristo.
I know the condition but just didn't know the slang!

Paul.
I like the prize to match the word so I put wood into You tube.
There were lots of predictable tree felling catastrophes and chain saw carvings, which I love, but most of the clips far too long.
I came across the ball by chance. I found it fascinating especially the patterns at the end and hoped you would enjoy it too.

Peterm.
I can't really understand why your clue caused problems for so many of our clever solvers. It showed it was a good one!

We must be on the same wavelength, rossim. I'd like to think it was good, but I rather suspect that no one else liked it! Never mind, there's always next week.

Rossim

Interesting word that you chose. I was hoping that a cricket fan would come up with a topical one e.g.

With this he bowled West Indies out (4)

or something a bit neater.
