14 Across. Battle or Bottle, please? Bannockburn was a battle and an early feed was a bottle.

The clue is,
14a, "Bannockburn feed once?" (6)
Bannockburn was a "battle".
And "battle" is an archaic term meaning "to feed".

Chambers says battle is a nutritious feed, so I guess that solves my dilemma. Must say, though, I had never heard of it.
