Thank you for that input , Cerasus!
The weekly Everyman usually offers clever and well constructed clues, and I enjoy doing the puzzle.
But today's puzzle was astonishingly simple.....and this despite the occasional lack of definitions, the inclusion of the odd unnecessary word, the omission sometimes of an anagram indicator, and, in one instance, no reference to a homophone.
I am sorry to hear of the illness - and consequent withdrawal - of the usual setter.
I hope he will be better soon.
Let us hope that his successor 'ups his game' for next week's crossword!

Sorry to hear the usual setter is suffering health, I hope he makes a swift recovery. I did the crossword when it first appeared online last night and was puzzled by some of the clues. As has already been pointed out, there were missing or erroneous definitions and missing anagram and homophone indicators. Let's hope the Everyman returns to it's usual high standard soon.

For those who aren't aware, the Everyman crossword is available free online at about 1 minute past midnight at this address, should you want to bookmark it:-

Thanks for the additional information, Cerasus, though it's sad to hear the bad news about Colin.

I'm glad now that I mentioned those poor clues - tonight's posts have shown me that normal Everyman puzzles are much better than the one I tackled today.

This is a prize puzzle and it is still live, I think. So it will be prudent if we don't divulge answers to clues in it.
