Parsing help please.
24d "Bridge team includes American woman": S-S-N. Probably Susan? And 3d: "Stature's something like A1": H-I-H-. It's got to be Height. I can't see why.
Still, I'm not as thick as I feel today - I won the radio last week by my own efforts. Just as well or I'd be sharing out the little components with you all!

24 The bridge team is S, south, and N, north, with (includes) USA, American, inside - Susan, woman.

A1 and H8 (so H eight, height) are terms used for positions in chess. Height, stature.
