Can anyone help with these two ?

We have a few answers but can't work out why !

16 A Press function that's very crowded ( 7)

3 D Pull out a lot of pages ( 5)

3 Leave, pull out. It's 'a lot of pages' as you take the S from Leaves, pages.

16 Squeeze means 'press' and also a 'crowded reception, gathering etc', so a function that's very crowded.

Also, we have Boyish for 53 A Youthful bachelor rather bashful avoiding clubs (6) . . . but why ?!

B, bachelor, + COYISH, rather bashful, minus C for clubs

53 Coyish would be 'rather shy'. Avoiding clubs = drop the c, so oyish, with B/bachelor at the front.
