Does anyone agree with me that the answer to 17dn is really poor grammar, or have I got the wrong answer?

It's probably me being pedantic but I would take the 'r' off and put the word 'more' in front. Anyway found the crossword really straightforward and that's unusual for me!

Brilliant. Forgot that. In that case it has to be right. Went to see Ian Dury just before he died at Wollaton Hall festival in Nottingham.

Like everybody else I'd rather see 'more xxx' but no doubt the alternative is allowable in Dictionary Corner.

Meanwhile, I have a tentative entry for 13a which I can't match to the def:
Good sides keep fit in white (5)
G=good, sides=L,R; fit = A1, keeep ->inclusion gives GRAIL
Now with a huge stretch I can see how Moby Dick the Great White whale could be Capt Ahab's Holy Grail but it seems a stretch too far...?

Also 4d, Struggle with angle (4) I have ? I ? ? ... FISH??

Glair - the white of an egg. The rest of your parsing seems fine.
