I wonder if someone would be good enough to put me out of my misery and provide me with the answer to the following.
46 A Overreaching at law, estate lost - no one understood it. (4,7,2,3,7)
t?a?/c???a?e/?o/?h?/g?n?r?l

Twas Caviare To The General, a Shakespeare quote. I think it's an anagram but it was too long to check!

It's from Hamlet and means, apparently, a good thing not appreciated by the ignorant.

Thanks, Elle. On Saturday I could see much of it, but didn't bother checking as I knew the answer was correct.

Thank you very much Malone and Elle it is sad to say but I'm afraid I was put off Shakespeare at school because of the way it was taught.

You're welcome, ftsalmon - and sorry I was too lazy to do the anagram! It was the weirdest phrase I'd ever entered in a grid.

PS I didn't mind some of Shakespeare... but I remember very little.

Glad I could help, ftsalmon!
I do not consider a crossword is "completed", unless I can account for every bit of its parsing!
