Allowed, sounds like aloud ?

I thought of allowed or aloud. I am unable to find a seven letter word that has two identical second and third letters and if it is "aloud " this seems to be of little help so I am proceeding without the clue.

The clue is "aloud" which is of no real help in itself. It is , however, related in part to the longest word in the puzzle.
