8 Down (4) - I think i have answer but can't understand the subsidiary indication! Oils?

31 Across (9/7) - Again I think I have answer, but is the tense in definition part of clue not wrong?!

It's always good to give the clues - many people don't have a copy, but would be happy to help.

8dn is a double definition clue - 'vessels for liquids' (see second entry for the solution in Chambers) / 'oils'.

The definition in 31ac is 'being bad-tempered', where 'being' is a verbal noun ('Being bad-tempered is not a good thing').
