Going along quite well but I need to know if 10d is an anagram please?

I've virtually filled the grid but i've got what seems to be unconnected words. I think I have one pair but don't know what I'm looking for. any tips please

As always the title of the crossword is important.
If you concentrate on 'Purple' and relate it to the words you have in place you should see a connection. I admit that one word is more tenuous than the others.
The theme word is hidden in the grid but is quite easy to identify.

Nearly all done including theme word & connection to three of the unclued 'pairs' just missing the last letter for each of two remaining unclued lights 2d & its pair (doing my best not to give anything away here!)
Any hint would be helpful.

2d is paired with 33a

Can I rephrase my answer.

I'VE paired 2d with 33a!

Finished except for ending of 20d. 2 of the pairs fine, but remaining 4 don't seem to make pairs.

I am happy with the connections of 28d & 39a ,
2d & 33a , 5d & 38a

Can't quite see 20d & 16a other than a general relation.
