... but I have no idea if it's the correct answer and, if it is, how the rest of the clue works - are these cryptic clues?

It’s a sports crossword. Some clues are a bit cryptic.
Thought it might be a person’s name but not sure.

Would it be Octagon? There is a book out called octagon about mma
