The clue: ' Bling, say, on streetwise male? Bloody waste of time in Scotland.'
I have _ r _ o _ h , (6 letters).
I guess 'brooch' might be considered an item of 'bling'; could 'bro' be a streetwise male? Other than that I have no idea.

Bro,male, a streetwise term, Och - Scottish term for 'oh no,' don't tell me', that sort of thing!

PS - Chambers defines 'och' as expressing impatience or annoyance.

You're very welcome. I did this crossword earlier - and I'm Scottish, I heard 'och' a lot when I was growing up. (There's a fake Scottish saying, 'och aye the noo' - but I have never heard this uttered!)

This makes sense, but I can't work out what the word is that gives 'r' as the 2nd letter of 9d.

Nargstrom, that was the last bit I got - and I got it from ticking off all the letters in the list AAAA BB etc.

I did the same, but have ended up with the letters d h i r. I must have made a mistake somewhere along the line.

Your D is wrong - and there's no R in the unchecked letters (but one from 9 D as you know).

I appear to have made the same mistake as Nargstrom and still can’t get the top right word from the letters I have left.
