Finished, but I'm a bit irritated by some of this. The definition in 14a is just wrong. If he is going to include an unindicated Italian word, he should get the meaning of the other Italian word right! The wordplay for 21d doesn't seem to work.

Rant over - now my question. I have what seems to be the only sensible answer for 11a, but I don't see all the parsing - any hints?

Old people in love, I gathered, something in it for a performer (6,4)

Ah, 21d does work. I'd split the answer in the wrong place.

For what it’s worth, Chambers gives the definition used in 14a. As to Italian, I came across 3 Italian words in solutions, 2 being musical terms which feature regularly in crosswords and 1 which Chambers says is now a common Australian usage. In all 3 cases the word play was clear and none contained mistranslations of other Italian words as far as I could see.

The word "natural" isn't present in the definition for 14a in my Chambers.

Come on guys. It's a crossword not a court of law. The fact that you got the solution to 14A means it must be close enough to the definition to be valid.
Any subtle hints for ...
23. Hurried having to walk
and
16. brief second coffee.
No giveaways please.
