1a Low class sailor,behold,getting in trim (8)
TABLOIDY.??
But why?
And 24d
Play Risk-and love American Monopoly (9,6)
DANGEROUS CORNER
Again why?

A very odd cryptic this week with many things I do not understand.

Thanks in advance. Giving it a break for now. Maybe the brain will perform better tomorrow.

1 Tabloidy = low class. Tidy = trim, AB = seaman, Lo = behold.
T ab lo idy.

24 I assumed Dangerous Corner was a play, but didn't check!
Danger = risk
O - love
US = American

Corner = monopoly (corner the market)

Ah. Yes. Dangerous Corner is a JB Priestley play. I was getting too hung up on the board games Risk & Monopoly as both words had capital letters.

Thanks for the first explanation for TABLOIDY. Would never have got that

Glad I could help. The setters are sneaky sometimes, with capital letters, punctuation etc!

So, if it's tabloidy, what is 4d which I had as 'read only edition'? it now starts with a 'd'?
Clue is
Non-internet version supplied by plane after its departure? (4,4,7)

Hi Archbee, I think it's 'DEAD TREE EDITION' - a sort of cryptic/humorous definition.

Ftsalmon, thanks. I found yesterday's puzzle … rather odd! It was nowhere near as straightforward as it often is.
