Couple I don't get.
13a Former German money preferred possibly nine grand (7).
A: Pfennig.
I see how "possibly nine grand" gives "ennig" but how does pf = preferred?
25a Pastry confection resulted in mess after base fell off (7)
A: strudel, I think, an anagram of "resulted" without the base. But that would be an anagram of "resulte" which can't give "strudel".

The base is e (the base of the natural system of logs)

Pf is used in stock transaction tables in newspapers to indicate the stock is a preferred issue.

Seems a bit of a "stretch". Not a usual dictionary definition as far as I can see.

Thank you Jolan, had never heard of either that use of "e" and "pf".

Might "pf" mean "pro forma"?
