example... if the clue has an answer of 6 letters that have to fit into 5 cells ( i.e. 1 letter to go at the beg or end of the row or column) then pencil in 2 letters in each available cell. ( eg if the answer was ANSWER then pencil in AN NS SW WE ER in the 5 cells)
If the clue has to lose 2 letters then pencil in 3 letters in each cell.
It will look a mess at first but you will see some definites in the crossers and will then be able to eliminate many of the possibilities.
Have a go then come back again if you are stuck. I think there's another thread on this puzzle so that may help too.
1a and 1d both start with O so that can be fixed ....see if there are any more like this ...
1a has a B n it ... so does 4d ... another letter in place.
