the clue is "used last of batter and bananas in fritter" the answer is "squander" i.e. fritter but I cannot get the cryptic bit! bananas is I assume the anagram indicator but where does the Q and U fit in

could the answer be daunders ... anagram of used and + r(from end of batter)

Thanks for that but I did the puzzle on line and "squanders" ( i.e. fritters) is shown as correct but I cannot get the cryptic bit !!

the clue was incorrect on line when I checked the hard copy in the Times
it should have read " use last of batter and bananas coating queens fritter" and so it makes sense er nd as around qu
