Naias are the snakes, I think - with the r/king inside?

It's a word for the Cobra genus, around R (king) + S (south)

I nominate 16D as feeblest clue of the year. It's so weak it's almost subscription-cancelling.

3d Remote spot goose put off visiting (7)
I have ?ept?n? How does this one work, am I being slow!
Hoping getting that will lead to getting unclued 1a, which I need to finish. The move on to Inquisitor, which looks fun today.

The goose is a nene, then tamper with 'put'.

Not the strongest definition!

Neptune is a remote spot... I guess.
I think I know what 1 across is now, pretty random!
Also I don't see why the puzzle is called Somewhere XI, anyone get that?

I'm puzzled by the the title too. All I can come up with is that the preamble refers to 11 words (if you count the IVR as a word). Not very convincing though.
