“Cures sick steers” with letters R - E - T - ... I can only think REESTS but not convinced. Any other options?
This is from an old Herald Crossword Sat 31 March no. 14508

Reests - cures (of ham for instance)

reests = cures (with smoke)
an anagram of "steers"

Thanks. I had the anagram ... could only find definition of “reests” as behaving noisily eg horses ... so didn’t tie in with cures (smokes meat) convincingly. But I’ll go with it. Thanks!
