Barny, it's OK - I knew you were referring to the actual clue rather than my hint!

My last one is 5ac Ring road regularly is a monstrous thing (7)

I have C?O?E?A, though I am not sure about either the C or the E. Any hints gratefully received.

Once again I started late but although I found it relatively easy this week, there are a number I can't quite parse including 5d and 24,6, which is why I'm not sure about the letters in 5ac.

Ta Rossim

I'll have to think again about 24,6 as well as 5ac.

The only word I can come up with for 5ac has an L instead of the O and this does not suggest any answer to 24,6 There's a thought, briefly put: God of DIY dead! (4,4) for which I now have ?O?D L?E? Any hints please.

5a First word in clue leads you to a 5 letter word, think clock.

roof, you L is wrong,

For ring, think a 5 letter word of what a bell does when pressed. then two letters from road. Monstrous thing is the definition.

Thank you both Sunray and Mamya. I did consider this word as an option and even looked it up in the dictionary and it didn't suggest monstrous thing, so I'd dismissed it.

I've also come up with an answer for 24,6, though I can't parse the second half of the clue. But enough is enough - time for bed I think.
