Yes - I wanted a more thematic clue/answer, but didn't manage to fit anything Scottish in!

CLOSE (noun)...could you describe this as a narrow courtyard ?

Whetstone, it wasn't really meant to be 'a narrow courtyard' - it was close = narrow and close = courtyard, an enclosed place. These clues are just ones I set when the site is being plagued by spam, my posts bump all the spam stuff down a bit!
