Why is 23 ac PEDAGOGY. Got the definition, and PE is a gym lesson, but otherwise?

It's always good to give the clue - then those without a copy of the paper could help! Daggy = scruffy, and O is love, so PE dag o gy.

Stuck on the parsing for a couple and would appreciate help.....

12a Kind of emission from vehicle - nut needs turning (6) - CARBON ( Kind of emission)

This looks like 'Vehicle' = CAR, but that leaves NOB (Bon 'turning') for 'Nut', which I can't find any justification for (Even in my newly purchased Chambers app!)

19a Headless body a big blow (4) - ONER (A big blow)

I had assumed this was a 5 letter word meaning 'Body' minus it's first letter ('Head'), but can find nothing that matches.

19a Chambers has "GONER" as " a person or animal dead....", so perhaps a body?

12 Nut - Head - Nob (slang)

That's great, thanks Mattrom, thanks Rusty and thanks Mamya - I was way off on 12a, I got fixated on 'Nut' meaning mad or loopy etc., threw me right off.
