Chambers Crossword Dictionary gives OR as a synonym for “men”. Does anyone know what it signifies please? It’s part of the answer to a clue in the Jumbo Cryptic in Saturday’s Times.
I’ve searched for OR but can only find definitions for “or”.

Other ranks (ORs) in the Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Air Force and in the armies and air forces of many other Commonwealth countries are those personnel who are not commissioned officers, usually including non-commissioned officers (NCOs).

OR - used frequently in cryptic crosswords for soldiers/men etc.

Dragonfly, OR as Other ranks is listed in my Chambers, the revised 13th edition - it's over the page from OR meaning logic circuits.

Thanks, dragonfly. I almost missed OR/other ranks in my Chambers as I hadn't turned the page!
